Evince names Deborah McGargle as interim chair
Evince Technology has today named Deborah McGargle as interim chair of the company’s board of directors, following the death of John Urwin who sadly passed away too soon in August 2019 after a short but defiant battle with cancer.
John Urwin joined the Evince board in October 2016 with a 30-year track record of success in the global semiconductor industry, and very quickly became a fervent and passionate supporter of the company’s technology and potential for revolutionising 21st century electronics. One of his final recommendations was to suggest that Deborah McGargle, who has been Evince’s external legal counsel for a number of years, could take on the role of acting chairperson while the company takes whatever time is necessary to find a long-term replacement.
Deborah is well known within the European and US East Coast technology sector for her legal, business development, and fund-raising expertise, and will bring a welcome broadening of skills and board-level experience into Evince. She is chief legal officer and part of the founding team of London-based SeedLegals, the UK’s largest legal platform for start-ups; prior to this she spent 10 years within the electrical distribution and manufacturing sector working for Rolls Royce plc and Siemens plc in the North of England, Germany and the Middle East.
In addition, she has been an advisor, mentor and advocate to multiple industry organisations including Techstars, the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and the British American Business Council of New England.
